History of World Radio Day

World Radio Day was originally declared by UNESCO member nations in 2011 as a commemoration of the importance of radio.
An International Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

Business tycoon Rahul Bajaj has passed away

The Industrialist and Business Icon Rahul Bajaj has died. Rahul Bajaj died on Saturday, February 12th, at his home in Pune. He was 57 years old. After over a month of treatment at Ruby Hall Clinic for pneumonia and heart problems, the 83-year-old former chairman of the Bajaj Group Rahul Bajaj has died. On Saturday, Mr. Bajaj died at 2:30 p.m. after a long illness. Sons Rajiv and Sanjiv Bajaj, as well as daughter Sunaina Kejriwal, are left to mourn the loss of their father.

Rahul Bajaj was one of India’s most prominent voices in the automobile industry. Mr. Bajaj was born on June 30th, 1938, in Calcutta, India, and graduated from St.College Stephen’s Delhi and Harvard Business School, respectively.
In 1965, he joined the Bajaj Group after completing his education and was promoted to CEO at the age of 30. After his father’s death in 1972, he assumed control of the company as its Managing Director. Bajaj Group chairman Rahul Bajaj held this position for nearly 40 years. In April of last year, Rahul Bajaj stepped down as chairman of Bajaj Auto and is now Chairman Emeritus.
Mr. Bajaj was the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for two years, from 1979 to 1980 and from 1999 to 2000, among his many other professional accomplishments. He formerly served on the boards of Indian Airlines and IIT Bombay as well as the chairmanship of both organisations.

Accolades and Honors of Late Rahul Bajaj

Mr. Rahul Bajaj has received numerous awards and honours during the course of his 40-year career. Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honour, was bestowed upon him by the Central Government in 2001. As an honorary doctorate recipient, he has been recognised by numerous academic institutions. As a member of the Rajya Sabha, he served from 2006 to 2010.
